Women’s Health at Total Physio

1 in 3 women in Ireland suffer with incontinence. Women’s Health Physiotherapy has been proven to be hugely successful in reducing these high rates of incontinence.

We accept self-referrals – you do not need a GP referral to be seen by our Women’s Health Physiotherapist, Jane Fogarty.

Jane specialises in providing advice, treating and managing common Women’s Health issues, including:

  • Gynaecological conditions
  • Incontinence

Incontinence Stress: involuntary leakage on effort or exertion, or on sneezing or coughing Urge: involuntary leakage with desire to pass urine, this can also be associated with frequency

Mixed: combination of both stress and urge incontinence

Faecal urgency/ incontinence: the urge to open your bowel and/or losing stool, also having difficulty controlling wind

  • Pelvic floor dysfunction

Prolapse: this is when one of the pelvic organs (bladder, bowel or uterus(womb)) moves out of its normal position in the pelvis

Sexual Dysfunction (Dyspareunia): pain or discomfort on sexual intercourse

Chronic Pelvic Pain

Constipation

  • Ante-natal and post-natal assessment, including diastasis of rectus abdominis (DRAM)


  • Retraining of Pelvic Floor muscles through strengthening and relaxation. We will also work with you to retrain bladder and bowel reflexes as needed.
